After graduating college, I began my career at my hometown art museum, the Tyler Museum of Art . I spent two years learning the museum profession which included everything from how to properly measure, wire, and hang artwork to giving school tours and providing docent training.

Next I spent about 6 years in several art galleries in Dallas- I’m sure I met many of you during those years. My last “post”was at SouthWest Gallery, and it was here that I really developed my love for frame design.
After exploring the retail side of the business, I wanted to learn more about the manufacturing side – so in 1983 I went to work for my old friend, Robey Clark at Clark Moulding. There I learned the technical aspects of aluminum extrusions combined with the design aesthetic of picking the right profiles and colors.
I had the good fortune to transition to Larson Juhl when Clark was purchased in 1994. My life changed overnite as homed the LJDesign Team. Before I knew it, I was traveling to factories all over the world, learning all the agonizing details of moulding design from Craig Ponzio, and soaking up all the art and culture I could.
My job is terrific – our Design Team is comprised of 3 designers plus our marketing management team, and CEO Steve McKenzie. We review trends twice a year and meet every 6 weeks to plan and manage our moulding collections. We generally have an 18 month development cycle, so we have many product launches being developed simultaneously.
It is a fun, creative, and challenging job -we strive to develop collections that will respond to current Design Trends, provide great quality, and have a long life on the frame shop wall.
