President’s Letter

Your board is working hard to bring you programs and information to help you make the best possible decisions for your company.
We will continue the format of having four meetings per year, one program per quarter. The first one was our annual Holiday party with the print competition .As always we had a good crowd and everyone enjoyed each other’s company and we had a great time with the competition.
This year we will see a some changes in the open competition.Anyone wanting to enter a piece in the open competition will need to request a competition packet just like the one delivered with the print competition. The open pieces will be collected at the same time as the print completion and will be judged in the same manner. These dates will be announced on the club’s calendar as soon as we have them.
In May We get a peek at the operations of an internet based frame shop. Mark Rogers will be hosting @ Frame Destination in Richardson. Please take a look at his site and bring any questions about this business format. There are many fascinating aspects of Mark’s operations that can help us streamline our own shops.
In July Jim Miller will join us for a workshop and lecture. Jim is a national speaker and author that has always proven to be very popular with our chapter members.Jim’s workshop will be on preservation quality mounting with Mylar. His lecture is called beyond fit and finish, look for the details on our calendar of events.
We will also be hosting out annual CPF test on that day. Please call national to register for the test. Through the PPFA Certified Picture Framer® (CPF®) Program, you can test your knowledge in the five exam content areas: Preservation, General Knowledge, Mechanical, Math and Mounting…and earn the framer’s mark of excellence, the CPF designation. More than 3,800 individuals worldwide have achieved CPF status since the program’s inception in 1986. For information on how to register, and cost contact PPFA at 800-762-9287 or email Heather Kelso

Your board has scheduled these meetings with the most current topics facing many of us today. We always want to hear from you about the relevance of the meeting topics. Please contact anyone on the board and let us know what you want. Or better yet, join your board and see just how much fun running our chapter really is.
